Accessibility

Pine Brothers wants everyone to be able to browse and buy from this website. We are working to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, and we test the site with automated tools and by keyboard as we make changes.

What we have done

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a skip link to the main content.
  • Headings, labels, link text and form fields are written so screen readers can announce them.
  • All five films on the site have captions and a written transcript that also describes the pictures.
  • Videos that play by themselves in the Stories row can be paused with the Pause previews button, and they do not move at all if your device is set to reduce motion.
  • Text and buttons are tested against the contrast levels WCAG requires, and pages reflow on small screens and when zoomed.

Known limits

  • The store finder map is a visual extra. The list of stores beside it has the same information and is the accessible way to use the finder.
  • The films have captions and transcripts but no separate audio description track yet; the transcripts describe what is shown.
  • Checkout and the chat window are provided by Shopify. We rely on their accessibility work for those parts.
